Excerpt:
(9.4) "Esthetician" means any person who engages in any one or more
of the following practices:
(a) Giving facials, applying makeup, giving skin care, or applying eyelashes,
involving physical contact, to any person;
(b) Beautifying the face, neck, arms, bust, or torso of the human body by the
use of cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, or creams.
Q:If I apply makeup with a brush and don't physically touch someone am I still required to be an Esthetician in State of Colorado?
A:Yes per OBC BARBER AND COSMETOLOGIST ACT Section 9.4 you are applying makeup.
Q:If I work at a cosmetic counter in a department store and was trained by a makeup manufacturer am I still required to be an Esthetician in State of Colorado?
A:Yes per OBC BARBER AND COSMETOLOGIST ACT Section 9.4 you are applying makeup.
Q:I have been a makeup artist for 30 years am I still required to be an Esthetician in State of Colorado?
A:Yes, there is No exemption clause based on years of experience.
Q:In Colorado, am legally able to perform eyelash extensions as a Makeup Artist?
A: No, you must be a Colorado certified Esthetician to apply eyelash extesions
